TOPICThe Non-Negotiables andPromising Practices for Literacy Join us for a lively conversation with Joan Green on the tough literacy issues confronting schools today. Joan will describe the non-negotiables we must live by to ensure high achievement for all students. Joan will also introduce new literacy resources developed strategically for students who can't, don't, or won't read. Why not invite your school literacy team to enjoy the Conversation? Joan Green has had a distinguished career as an educator and leader in public education. She has been a teacher, principal, consultant and superintendent before becoming the Director of Education for the City of Toronto. In 1995 Joan became the founding CEO of EQAO. In 2002 she was appointed a Commissioner on education for the Province of Alberta. A published author on curriculum assessment, leadership and equity, Joan co-authored Northern Lights: Outstanding Canadian Women. And just this summer she co-authored I Want to Read: Reading, Writing, and Really Learning with David and Jack Booth. Joan is currently Chair of the Board of Roots of Empathy. |
